The licence price is the easy number to compare

Zoho People is genuinely inexpensive, and nobody should pretend otherwise. If your requirement is an employee database with leave tracking, it will cost you very little and it will do the job.

The thing worth working out before you sign is what your complete HR setup looks like — because in the Zoho model, most of it lives outside Zoho People.

Payroll is Zoho Payroll. Expenses are Zoho Expense. Recruitment is Zoho Recruit. Electronic signature is Zoho Sign. Course delivery is Zoho Learn. Deeper reporting is Zoho Analytics. Shift scheduling is Zoho Shifts. Internal communication is Zoho Connect.

Each of those is a separate product with its own subscription, its own login, its own permissions to maintain and its own data. They connect, but they are not one system.

So the arithmetic that matters isn't the headline per-user price. It's: how many subscriptions am I actually buying? How many logins does my HR team hold? Where does an employee's data live — and in how many places? When something doesn't reconcile between two products, whose job is that?

None of this makes Zoho a poor choice. It's a deliberate design: a wide suite of small products that you assemble. Just be sure you're comparing your total against a total, rather than one product's price against a whole platform.

In Humavera, everything below is one subscription, one login, one database, and one bill.

Payroll, and what happens when you have more than one company

Humavera runs payroll in ten countries on its own statutory engines: the United Kingdom, the United States, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman and Côte d'Ivoire. Progressive bands and reliefs, social insurance ceilings, contribution splits, end-of-service gratuity, UK PAYE with National Insurance, 155 currencies handled at the right precision.

Zoho Payroll covers a similar number of countries, so on coverage alone the two are closer than you might expect. The difference shows up somewhere less obvious.

Zoho Payroll works on one legal entity per payroll organisation. If your group has three companies, that's three payroll organisations to set up and maintain, and consolidating across them happens outside the system.

Humavera runs several legal entities inside one tenant, with statutory profiles per entity, payroll run consolidation across them, and reporting scoped by entity or across the whole group. One system, one set of employees, one report.

If you're a single company in a single country, this won't matter to you. If you're a group — or expect to be — it's the thing that decides how much manual work your finance team inherits.

Payroll also isn't a separate purchase in Humavera. It's part of the platform, on the same employee record, in the same subscription.

Depth in the places most platforms stop

Review cycles with configurable rating scales. Goals and OKRs with two-level weighting. Operational KPIs with periodic readings. 360 feedback, continuous feedback, 1:1 check-ins, calibration sessions between managers, performance improvement plans.

Learning built in: a course library, learning paths, instructor-led sessions, assessments, certifications, mandatory training rules, training budgets, and AI-generated course content.

Then the layer most systems at this price never reach — a skills and competency library with proficiency scales and gap analysis, career paths, development plans, succession planning, and an internal opportunity marketplace where your people apply for gigs, projects, secondments and full roles inside the company, each with its own acceptance path.

All of it in every plan, on the same employee record as payroll and attendance. Not a second product to connect.

Automation you build yourself

The workflow designer is visual, with eight step types including approval, condition, branch and parallel. 183 events across the platform can start a workflow automatically — a hire, a leave request, a probation date, a contract expiry, a payroll run, a document acknowledgement.

Workflows are versioned, checked for closed loops, and can be simulated before you switch them on, so you see exactly what will happen before it happens to a real employee. SLAs and escalation are built in. You can also describe what you want in plain language and let AI build the workflow for you.

Because everything runs on one database, automation crosses areas that would otherwise be separate products. A confirmed probation can update a pay element, assign a training path, notify a manager and file a document — in one workflow, without an integration between two subscriptions.

Reporting that respects who's reading it

A report designer across twelve data areas, with filters, grouping and aggregate functions. A presentation designer for tables, charts, KPI tiles, images and page breaks at A4 or Letter. Export to CSV, Excel or PDF, scheduled daily, weekly or monthly, shared with everyone, with a department, or with named people, and scoped per legal entity.

The part worth pausing on: a report runs with the permissions of whoever reads it. Share a report with a department head and it cannot show them a salary they aren't entitled to see. Permission is enforced on the data itself, not on the screen displaying it.

Most systems guard the page and leave reports as a side door. We closed it.

And because payroll, attendance, performance, learning and recruitment all sit in the same database, a single report can cross them. No export, no join, no third product.

AI, without a premium tier

Humavera's assistant answers HR questions from your own live data, using twelve data tools that respect each user's permissions — so it can never surface something the person asking isn't allowed to see. Alongside it: flight-risk indicators, predictions, suggested action plans, and bias monitoring on AI-assisted decisions.

There's a transparent credit system, so you can see exactly what each feature costs and allocate credits across your team.

It's available on every plan and to every user. Not an upgrade, not an add-on, not a premium tier.

Built for wherever you operate

English, Arabic and French, with genuine right-to-left layout — built for it, not translated into it. Multi-currency and multi-timezone throughout, with statutory profiles per legal entity.

The iOS and Android app is white-label: your company's name, your company's brand. Your people open your app, not ours.

Hosting in the EU (Germany) or Singapore.

Humavera is probably right for you if

  • You'd rather run one system than assemble five
  • You have more than one legal entity, or expect to
  • You employ people in more than one country and want payroll in the same place as everything else
  • You want performance, learning, skills and succession without buying another product
  • You want automation that crosses HR, payroll and learning in a single workflow
  • You need reports that enforce permission on the data
  • Some of your workforce works in Arabic
  • You'd like your employees to open an app with your company's name on it

QUESTIONS WE GET ASKED

Zoho People's licence is inexpensive. Whether the setup is cheaper depends on how many Zoho products you end up subscribing to — payroll, expenses, recruitment, e-signature, learning and analytics are separate purchases. Compare your total against Humavera's total, using the same requirements list for both.
No. Payroll is part of the platform, on the same employee record, in the same subscription.
Yes. Multiple legal entities live in one tenant, each with its own statutory profile, with payroll consolidation and reporting scoped by entity or across the group.
Weeks. Employees, org structure, leave balances, documents and history import through a structured import that runs as a dry run first and rolls back completely if anything looks wrong.
Yes — though it's worth mapping first which Zoho product holds which data, since your HR information is likely spread across several. Export from each before you cancel anything.
No. Every plan, every user, with a transparent credit system.
