Two models under one roof

BIPO offers both of the ways companies handle multi-country payroll. There is an HRMS platform — records, payroll, time and attendance, leave, claims, appraisal. And there is a services business: BIPO's own team can run your payroll for you, and through their employer-of-record offering they can act as the legal employer for your staff in countries where you have no entity.

Humavera is one model: software. You run your own payroll, in your own system, on your own schedule, with everything else on the same record.

Both answer the question 'how do we pay people in more than one country.' So the first thing to establish in any evaluation of BIPO is which of the two you're actually buying — the platform, the service, or a mix per country — because the cost, the control, and the day-to-day experience are different for each.

Outsourcing genuinely suits some companies. If you have no payroll expertise in-house and no intention of building any, handing it to specialists is a reasonable decision.

The questions worth asking before you do are the ones that only surface later.

What 'we'll handle it' is worth asking about

If part of your quote is managed payroll — from BIPO or from anyone — these are the five questions that determine what the next three years feel like:

  • How long does a mid-cycle change take? An employee's bank details change on the 27th. A late joiner needs adding. A bonus is approved the day before the run. In software you make the change and rerun. In a service you send a request and wait for a response.
  • Can you see the calculation? Not the payslip — the calculation. Which elements, at which rates, against which thresholds. When an employee queries their net pay, can your HR manager answer them on the call, or does that become a ticket?
  • Can you run a what-if? Before approving a 6% increase across a department, can you see what it costs in employer contributions, gratuity accrual and total cost to company? In software that's a draft run. In a service it's a request.
  • Who holds your data? Not just employee records — the historical calculations. If you move providers in three years, what leaves with you and what stays behind?
  • What happens when your account manager leaves? Service quality in this model is often a relationship with one person. That's fine until it isn't.

None of these are criticisms of outsourcing. They're the trade you make, and it's worth making it knowingly.

Payroll you can see, and change, and rerun

Humavera runs payroll in ten countries on its own statutory engines: the United Kingdom, the United States, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman and Côte d'Ivoire.

UK PAYE with National Insurance. US federal, state and local withholding. Progressive bands and reliefs, social insurance ceilings, contribution splits, end-of-service gratuity. 155 currencies handled at the right precision.

What that means day to day:

  • Run a draft any time. See the whole calculation, element by element, before anything is approved.
  • Fix and rerun. A correction takes a minute, not an email thread.
  • Answer questions on the spot. Every element, threshold and rate is on screen.
  • Model before you commit. Off-cycle and supplemental runs let you see the cost of a decision before you make it.
  • Keep your history. Every run, every payslip, every audit entry lives in your tenant and exports whenever you want.

Around the calculation: flexible earnings, deductions and employer contributions. Final settlement. Loans and advances with a repayment engine. Bank files in whatever format your bank wants. Consolidated reporting across several legal entities at once. And whoever prepares a run can't approve it — enforced by the system, not by policy.

A price you can read on a page

Free, Starter at $6, Growth at $12, Enterprise at $16 per employee per month, billed annually. Published, on a page, no conversation required.

That covers payroll, attendance and shift scheduling, performance, learning, skills, succession, internal mobility, recruitment, benefits administration, expenses, workflow automation, the report designer and AI.

Managed services and quoted platforms are priced per engagement, so the useful exercise is to model both over three years at the headcount you expect to reach, not the one you have now — with every module and every country you'll need in the total on both sides.

Depth beyond administration

Administrative HR — records, leave, claims, attendance — is the floor. The difference between platforms is everything above it.

Humavera includes review cycles with configurable rating scales, goals and OKRs with two-level weighting, operational KPIs, 360 feedback, continuous feedback, 1:1 check-ins, calibration sessions and performance improvement plans.

Learning is built in — a course library, learning paths, instructor-led sessions, assessments, certifications, mandatory training rules, training budgets, and AI-generated course content.

Then a skills and competency library with proficiency scales and gap analysis, career paths and development plans, succession planning, and an internal opportunity marketplace where your people apply for gigs, projects, secondments and full roles inside the company.

And for teams that don't sit at desks: shift scheduling with templates, patterns, coverage rules, shortage alerts, swaps and open shifts, plus native support for ZKTeco and eSSL attendance devices with other brands through a gateway.

All on the same employee record as payroll. All in every plan.

Automation you build yourself

The workflow designer is visual, with eight step types including approval, condition, branch and parallel. 183 events can start a workflow automatically — a hire, a leave request, a probation date, a contract expiry, a payroll run, a document acknowledgement.

Workflows are versioned, checked for closed loops, and can be simulated before you switch them on. SLAs and escalation are built in. You can also describe what you want in plain language and let AI build it.

A confirmed probation can update a pay element, assign a training path, notify a manager and file a document — one flow, no email to anyone outside your company.

Reporting that respects who's reading it

A report designer across twelve data areas with filters, grouping and aggregate functions. A presentation designer for tables, charts, KPI tiles and page breaks at A4 or Letter. Export to CSV, Excel or PDF, scheduled daily, weekly or monthly, shared with everyone, with a department, or with named people, scoped per legal entity.

The part worth pausing on: a report runs with the permissions of whoever reads it. Share a report with a department head and it cannot show them a salary they aren't entitled to see. Permission is enforced on the data itself, not on the screen displaying it.

And because it's your system, you build the report you want at eleven at night without asking anyone.

AI, without a premium tier

Humavera's assistant answers HR questions from your own live data, using twelve data tools that respect each user's permissions. Alongside it: flight-risk indicators, predictions, suggested action plans, and bias monitoring on AI-assisted decisions.

Every plan. Every user. With a transparent credit system so you can see what each feature costs.

Built for wherever you operate

English, Arabic and French, with genuine right-to-left layout — built for it, not translated into it. Multi-currency and multi-timezone throughout, with statutory profiles per legal entity.

The iOS and Android app is white-label: your company's name, your company's brand. Your people open your app, not ours.

Hosting in the EU (Germany) or Singapore.

Humavera is probably right for you if

  • You want to see and control your own payroll rather than request it
  • You want corrections and what-ifs to take minutes, not days
  • You want your payroll history to stay yours
  • You need HR as well as payroll — performance, learning, skills, succession
  • You run shifts, or clock people in on biometric devices
  • You have more than one legal entity, or trade in more than one currency
  • You want a price you can read on a page and model over three years
  • Some of your workforce works in Arabic
  • You'd like your employees to open an app with your company's name on it

QUESTIONS WE GET ASKED

Both. BIPO offers an HRMS platform alongside outsourced payroll and employer-of-record services. Which model you're buying determines the cost, the control, and the day-to-day experience — so establish that first in any evaluation, per country.
Often, yes — more often than people expect. The statutory logic is in the engine, so your team enters data and approves a run rather than calculating anything. If you'd genuinely rather someone else carried the whole task, a service is a fair choice, and worth being honest with yourself about.
Yes, and it's a common shape. Run Humavera everywhere you have your own legal entity, and keep a provider where you don't.
In Humavera it's yours throughout — every run, payslip and audit entry lives in your tenant and exports on demand. If you're leaving a managed provider, ask for your full historical calculation data before you give notice, not after.
Weeks. Employees, org structure, leave balances, documents and history import through a structured import that runs as a dry run first and rolls back completely if anything looks wrong.
Yes. Multiple legal entities in one tenant, each with its own statutory profile, with payroll consolidation and reporting scoped by entity or across the group.
No. Every plan, every user, with a transparent credit system.
