The starting price is the platform, not the product

This is the thing to understand before you compare any numbers.

Rippling's advertised per-employee starting price buys the base platform — the layer that holds employee data. Payroll is a module on top. Benefits administration is a module. Time tracking is a module. IT, finance and global services are modules. Each carries its own per-employee price, and some carry their own base fees and seat minimums.

So the entry figure isn't the price of a working HR and payroll system. It's the price of the foundation you then build one on. Buyers routinely report that the total lands well above the number that brought them in, because module costs compound with each one you add.

Humavera's price is the whole platform. Free, Starter at $6, Growth at $12, Enterprise at $16 per employee per month, billed annually.

Payroll, attendance and shift scheduling, performance, learning, skills, succession, internal mobility, recruitment, benefits administration, expenses, workflow automation, the report designer and AI are all in it. Not modules. Not add-ons. Not a premium tier for AI.

One number, and it's the one you pay.

Six things to get in writing

If you're building a quote from stacked modules, get all six answered before you sign:

  1. What is the base platform fee, and what does it include on its own?
  2. What does each module cost per employee, listed separately?
  3. Are there minimum seat counts on any module?
  4. What is the one-time implementation fee? It varies widely with complexity.
  5. What is the annual renewal increase, and can it be capped in the contract? Escalators are common and often aren't discussed at signing.
  6. What is the cancellation notice window, and does the contract auto-renew? Missing that window by a week can commit you to another full year.

Then compare the three-year total — not the first month — against a published per-employee price.

Two lists of ten countries — and they barely overlap

Rippling runs payroll on its own engines in a set of countries concentrated in North America, Europe and Asia-Pacific, with partner-processed payroll and an employer-of-record module extending coverage beyond — each priced on top of the platform.

Humavera runs payroll in ten countries on its own statutory engines, in the platform, included in the plan: the United Kingdom, the United States, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman and Côte d'Ivoire.

Put the two lists side by side and they share the UK and the US — and little else. If your workforce is in the Gulf, Egypt or Côte d'Ivoire, one platform calculates that payroll itself and the other routes it through partners or employment services.

UK PAYE with National Insurance. US federal, state and local withholding. Progressive bands and reliefs, social insurance ceilings, contribution splits, end-of-service gratuity. 155 currencies at the right precision.

For people in countries where you hold no entity, the usual answer anywhere is employer of record — another company legally employs your staff on your behalf. It's a real solution to a real problem, and it's priced accordingly: EOR fees typically run into the hundreds of dollars per employee per month, quoted separately from the software, before salary, statutory contributions and benefits. If you have your own entity in a country, you shouldn't be paying an employment-service premium to run payroll in it.

Around the calculation: flexible earnings, deductions and employer contributions. Regular, off-cycle and supplemental runs at no extra charge. Final settlement. Loans and advances with a repayment engine. Bank files in whatever format your bank wants. And consolidated reporting across several legal entities at once.

Whoever prepares a run can't approve it. Enforced by the system, not written in a policy nobody reads.

Depth that isn't a module

Performance. Review cycles with configurable rating scales, goals and OKRs with two-level weighting, operational KPIs with periodic readings, 360 feedback, continuous feedback, 1:1 check-ins, calibration sessions between managers, and performance improvement plans.

Learning. A course library, learning paths, instructor-led sessions, assessments, certifications, mandatory training rules, training budgets, and AI-generated course content.

Skills and careers. A skills and competency library with proficiency scales and gap analysis, career paths, development plans, succession planning, and an internal opportunity marketplace where your people apply for gigs, projects, secondments and full roles inside the company, each with its own acceptance path.

Included at every tier. Nothing to activate, nothing to add to the quote.

The people who don't sit at desks

Clock in from the app, or connect the hardware you already own — ZKTeco and eSSL natively, other brands through the CAMS gateway. Geofences, grace and rounding policies, break rules, overnight shifts, missing punches, regularisation requests, and overtime at a configurable multiplier that flows straight into payroll with no re-entry.

Then shift scheduling in the same system: templates, patterns, coverage rules, shortage alerts, shift swaps and open shifts, with an AI shift manager that proposes a schedule.

Retail floors, clinics, factories, restaurants, field teams — this is usually what decides whether you run one system or two.

Automation you build yourself

The workflow designer is visual, with eight step types including approval, condition, branch and parallel. 183 events across the platform can start a workflow automatically — a hire, a leave request, a probation date, a contract expiry, a payroll run, a document acknowledgement.

Workflows are versioned, checked for closed loops, and can be simulated before you switch them on, so you see exactly what will happen before it happens to a real employee. SLAs and escalation are built in. You can also describe what you want in plain language and let AI build the workflow for you.

Because payroll, learning and documents are all in the same system rather than separate modules, one workflow reaches all of them.

Reporting that respects who's reading it

A report designer across twelve data areas with filters, grouping and aggregate functions. A presentation designer for tables, charts, KPI tiles, images and page breaks at A4 or Letter. Export to CSV, Excel or PDF, scheduled daily, weekly or monthly, shared with everyone, with a department, or with named people, and scoped per legal entity.

The part worth pausing on: a report runs with the permissions of whoever reads it. Share a report with a department head and it cannot show them a salary they aren't entitled to see. Permission is enforced on the data itself, not on the screen displaying it.

Most systems guard the page and leave reports as a side door. We closed it.

AI, without a premium tier

Humavera's assistant answers HR questions from your own live data, using twelve data tools that respect each user's permissions — so it can never surface something the person asking isn't allowed to see. Alongside it: flight-risk indicators, predictions, suggested action plans, and bias monitoring on AI-assisted decisions.

There's a transparent credit system, so you can see what each feature costs and allocate credits across your team.

Every plan. Every user.

Built for wherever you operate

English, Arabic and French, with genuine right-to-left layout — built for it, not translated into it. Multi-currency and multi-timezone throughout, with statutory profiles per legal entity.

The iOS and Android app is white-label: your company's name, your company's brand. Your people open your app, not ours.

Hosting in the EU (Germany) or Singapore.

Humavera is probably right for you if

  • You want the price you're quoted to be the price of the whole product
  • You'd rather not assemble a stack of separately priced modules
  • You have your own legal entities and want to run payroll in them yourself
  • Your workforce is in the Gulf, Egypt, Côte d'Ivoire, the UK or the US
  • You have more than one legal entity, or trade in more than one currency
  • You want talent, learning, skills and succession without another line on the quote
  • You run shifts, or clock people in on biometric devices
  • You'd rather not sign an implementation fee before the system does anything
  • You'd like your employees to open an app with your company's name on it
